Thank you for visiting. Here, you will find information on violist and educator Sarah Bromberg.
About
Sarah Bromberg began playing the viola at age nine through her public school’s fourth grade strings program. A member of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra since 2015, she enjoys an active career as an orchestral musician, educator, and freelancer. She is a former member of the Canton Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra and Phoenix Symphony.
Equally at home in ensembles large and small, Ms. Bromberg has enjoyed chamber music performances with such artists as Boris Berman, Franklin Cohen, and Paul Kantor. She has appeared with the Cleveland Chamber Music Society, Saint Andrew’s Bach Society, and as a musical guest on NPR’s Says You.
Ms. Bromberg graduated with honors from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Jeffrey Irvine. Additional teachers include Lynne Ramsey, Stephen Wyrczynski, and James Dunham. Chamber music coaches include members of the Brentano, Emerson, Tokyo, Juilliard, Takacs, Cavani, and Cleveland quartets. Summer festivals include Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Banff Chamber Music Residency, Spoleto Festival USA, and Aspen Music Festival and School, where she was the recipient of multiple fellowships. She is pleased to play on a viola by Gabrielle Kundert and a bow by David Samuels.
When she isn’t performing, Ms. Bromberg enjoys teaching a small studio of violin and viola students.
Teaching
Sarah considers it her great privilege to lead a talented studio of violin and viola students. Her students frequently enjoy leadership positions in their school orchestras and currently include members of the Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestra, Sierra Vista Symphony, and the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra. Students range greatly in age and ability, from young childhood through retirement years, new beginner to experienced player.
Ms. Bromberg is certified in the Suzuki Method through Book 4 and relies on a wealth of practical knowledge to teach her students. Every student is different; every lesson is a custom product. Recitals are held regularly to allow students performance opportunities.
Lessons are conveniently located on the northwest side of Tucson, near Tohono Chul.
